Over View

In an age of globalization, reading and writing play an important role in knowledge attainment, self-advancement and social development. In an effort to participate in promoting reading and book publishing in Cambodia, the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts and the National Library of Cambodia are partnering with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, the Ministry of Information, the Cambodian Librarians and Documentalists Association, and other stakeholders including Sipar, Room to Read, Shanthi Volunteer Assocation, IBBY, French Institute of Cambodia and UNESCO to organize the Cambodia Book Fair 2017. The Cambodia Book Fair is an annual event organized at a national level.



Goals of the Cambodia Book Fair 2017 are:


  • To raise awareness about availability of books in Khmer or other foreign languages, particularly books about Cambodia and children books
  • To support Cambodian authors/writers and illustrators
  • To promote the publishing industry in Cambodia
  • To foster a passion for writing among the young generation
  • To nurture a love and a habit of reading among the Cambodian population across ages


What happens on the days?

Activities during the three-day event include:

  • Books exhibition participated by authors/writers, publishers, and bookstores (some books will be sold with special prices)
  • Reading and educational activities for young adults
  • Story time and educational activities for children
  • Entertainment
  • Other special programs

When will the 2017 Cambodia Book Fair be held?

The Cambodia Book Fair will be held on 08-10 December 2017 at the National Library of Cambodia in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
