Anna Mattsson is a Swedish poet, novelist and translator. She has published ten books and several translations. From a Cambodian point of view, an important part of her works is her introduction of Swedish literature to Khmer language: selections of rendered poetry and short stories, and especially her translation of the famous children’s book Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren, that was first published in Khmer in 2008 by SIPAR. She has also introduced Cambodian poetry and short stories in Sweden.
”A tough life needs a tough language – and that is what poetry is. That is what literature offers – a language powerful enough to say how it is. It isn’t a hiding place. It is a finding place.”
Jeanette Winterson: Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal? (2011)
